The single best thing you can do for account security is use a long, random, unique password for every site. This generator builds unpredictable passwords from the character types you choose, with a live strength estimate, and never sends them anywhere — they are created right in your browser.
How to generate a strong password
- Set the length — 16 characters or more is a great default.
- Choose which character types to include: uppercase, lowercase, numbers, symbols.
- Optionally exclude look-alike characters (l, 1, O, 0) for easier typing.
- Click Generate, then copy the password into your password manager.
How length affects strength
| Length | Character set | Relative strength |
|---|---|---|
| 8 | Mixed | Weak — crackable quickly |
| 12 | Mixed | Reasonable for low-risk accounts |
| 16 | Mixed | Strong — recommended baseline |
| 20+ | Mixed | Very strong |
Length matters more than complexity. A longer password with fewer symbols usually beats a short, complex one.
Generator features
